The Fabulous Anthony Hawksley

How very lovely to be able to buy such a stylish ring still in it’s original box.

Anthony Hawksley was a fabulous 20th century silversmith and this ring is simplicity itself.  He trained at Maidstone School of Art and later at the Royal College of Art.  In 1951 he exhibited at The Festival of Brtain for Goldsmiths’ Hall.  Later he taught silversmithing in Birmingham and Oxford.  The Oxford colleges – in particular Wolfson College – commissioned silver pieces from him.

This ring was sold through the Ewan Phillips Gallery in London – the gallery was only open for three years – this ring is hallmarked 1965 which was the first year they were open.

(I was completely thrilled to sell this unique ring to the niece of Anthony Hawksley – quite a rare thing to happen in my world!)
